NETS-3M/U is a 1K Multichannel Analyzer with HV Supply and Spectroscopy Amplifier. It is a mains operated instrument for NaI(Tl) detector based spectroscopy.

NETS3M/U along with NaI(Tl) detector of Customer’s choice and Preamplifier (NETS-0M) form a complete Spectroscopy System. The whole setup has a resolution of around 8%. It is suitable for applications where low resolution of nuclides is acceptable.

NETS-3M/U is ideally suited for Nuclear Spectroscopy experiments carried out at Universities, Environmental Survey Labs and Health Physics Units of Nuclear Power Plants and Chemical Control Labs.

NETS-3M/U uses a Wilkinson type 6 MHz ADC with 64K counts capacity per channel. It is equipped with backlit graphics Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) to monitor data acquisition and perform data analysis. Data analysis includes the Centroid and FWHM calculation. User can analyse the ROI in the unit itself without need for a PC. At a time, maximum 10 ROIs can be set. This MCA also has a facility to calibrate the spectrum. Straight Line method (y=mx + c) is used for calibration.

NETS-3M/U supports serial communication. A software package (NETSWIN) will be supplied at free of cost to the users along with the MCA. This package operates on Windows 98/XP/2K operating system. This package can control the data acquisition using real time clock of the PC. This facility makes it useful for experiments where the experiment time is more than 10 to 12 hours. User can set the experiment time and start the acquisition. The package automatically halts the acquisition once the acquisition time is over.

NETS-3MU can be supplied optionally with built-in preset Timer with Live/Real time selection. The time is settable between 1 to 9999 secs.

ACCESSORIES

For most of the users, we have supplied NaI(Tl) detector with MCA. Detector size depends upon the application. Usually the size varies from 2”x2” to 5”x3”.

Along with the MCA, we can supply the preamplifier (Model – NETS-0M). The preamplifier has built in Voltage Divider Chain (10 or 12 stage with R=510K) and 2 stage transistor amplifier with emitter follower.

Preset Timer is optionally available with MCA. This Timer has a Real time/Live Time selection switch. In Live mode, the timer stretches the acquisition time to compensate for the Dead time of MCA.

For low activity samples, the background plays important role. For such applications, proper shielding is necessary. Lead shields as per user requirement and application can be supplied.

Software :

NETS-3M/U includes Windows based Spectrum Analysis Software package. This software enables user to transfer the acquired spectrum to PC on serial port and carry out the Spectrum Analysis. All the necessary functions such as Spectrum Smoothing, Normalization, Peak Calculations, ROI Set/Reset are part of the software. Other facilities include Spectrum Calibration, Printing and Storage of Spectrum.

This package makes use of real time clock of the PC. User can set the acquisition time and number of runs. After completion of each run, data automatically gets transferred to PC. This feature is useful when the experiment time is in hours.

We can customize this package as per the user requirement. For example, the report format can be changed if desired. For ESL Tarapur, we have provided additional facility to perform Cumulative Effective Dose (CED) calculations. CED report is generated for all the regular employees and contract people. All the data is finally stored in a common report file.
